Peter Lambert is Senior Editor of ScreenPlays Magazine. A communications, computing and entertainment industry journalist, analyst and consultant since 1986, Peter has served as technology editor for media, communications, and computer industry publications including Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News, On Demand, Interactive Week, tele.com, a-com, X-Change and ScreenPlays and as cable industry analyst for Light Reading’s Heavy Reading industry research arm .

20 Years in Broadband Convergence
After covering broadcast, cable and satellite network technology, sports broadcast rights and regulatory issues for Broadcasting & Cable magazine, and then transport, access and networked applications technologies for Multichannel News (1986 to 1994), Peter co-launched On Demand magazine, a spinoff of Cable World, serving as managing editor and lead technology reporter covering digital media, broadband Internet and interactive television hardware and software systems from 1994 to 1996.

Peter then covered Internet and cable industry infrastructure technologies and services as senior writer for Interactive Week and then tele.com magazines from ’96 to ’98. He joined the Virgo Publishing family in October 1998, serving as features editor for X-Change , SoundingBoard and Phone + magazines, targeted to the competitive carrier, voice-over-Internet and telecom reseller markets, respectively.

In July 2000, he co-developed and launched Virgo’s a-com Magazine for the emerging applications service provider (ASP)/software as a service (SaaS) market and served as its editor-in-chief until August 2001, when he was appointed group editor.

Lambert Communications has provided white papers, contributed articles, press releases and other marketing collateral to vendors and consortia including the OSS Through Java Initiative (OSS/J), BEA Systems, Accruent, ADC Software, HighDeal, IP VALUE and Whisperwire. On those clients’ behalf, his white papers, bylined articles and ghosted articles have appeared in such publications as America’s Network, CRMguru, European Communications and FatPipe, as well as the Web publications of the Tele-Management Forum. Peter also devised educational session agendas and recruited speakers for advanced technologies and services sessions as well as keynote speakers for the USTA’s Telecom03 conference.

As an industry analyst, he initiated research focused on operations support systems and on cable industry infrastructure and services for Heavy Reading in 2004.

In previous lives, Peter has served as musician and composer, guitar teacher, record store flunky, and barbed wire fence repairguy. He holds a masters degree from Colorado State University and bachelors degree from the University of Maryland. He resides in Venice, Florida, where he continues to compose and record songs and soundtracks for painfully obscure films and for his daughter, Annie.
